Peru | 2013 - 2016
Client: SwissContact
Service: Agriculture, MEL

EMPRENDE was a coffee-, cacao-, and banana-focused value chain project operating in Peru (San Martín and Piura) and Ecuador from 2013-2016, implemented by SwissContact and funded by SDC. It worked with 8000 farmers, supporting their access to finance, access to markets, good agricultural practices, irrigation, inputs, soil analysis, etc.

MSA evaluated the EMPRENDE program, applying the DCED Standard for Results Measurement as the unifying framework. MSA’s team reviewed the project documentation, interviewed project stakeholders and selected partner organizations, analyzed EMPRENDE’s theories of change for its interventions, and reviewed the evidence that it gathered to substantiate the impact that it created for women and men coffee farmers.
